Our Doctor

Dr. Cory Hoonhout is our owner and full time veterinarian here at Donaldson Animal Hospital. He purchased Donaldson Animal Hospital in 2013 from Dr. Donaldson. Dr. Cory’s dad and Dr. Donaldson went to school together at Michigan State University Veterinary School in 1964. Dr. Cory was born and raised in Macomb County, MI. As the son of a well known and beloved veterinarian, he grew up with a love for animals and a passion for veterinary medicine. Dr. Cory graduated from Ross University/University of Illinois in 2003. He has special interests in surgery and is particularly skilled in knee repair. With his dad, sister, and himself being in the same field of work, they all shared knowledge and different techniques with each other on the daily.

Dr. Cory had spent time before college for about 10 years right out of high school working with the IndyCar Series. He worked on Arie Luyendyk’s 1990 Indy500 winning team (also known as “The Flying Dutchman”)

Dr. Cory lives in the Romeo area. He has one Boston Terrier (Gordie) and three cats (AJ, Stevie and Ari). Dr. Cory’s interests outside of veterinary medicine include vintage car racing, travel, ice hockey, cooking, and boating.
